Judge James T. Doyle, Judge Emeritus has been involved in the Criminal Justice field for more than 35 years. He worked as a police officer while
attending law school, after passing the Illinois Bar exam he immediately joined the Kane County, Illinois Public defenders office as an assistant Public
defender. He left the Public Defender’s office to join the Kane County States Attorneys office as an Assistant States Attorney. During this time Judge
Doyle also spent 5 years teaching various college level law courses. He became Corporation Council for the City of Aurora, IL before opening his own
private law practice. He was appointed Judge in Kane County in 1989, and subsequently won several elections as Full Circuit Judge before retiring from
the bench in 2006. Judge Doyle took a unique approach to the administration of justice, creating a defendant impact panel for alcohol related reckless
homicide. Additionally Judge Doyle began Kane County ’s Drug Rehabilitation Court in 2000, a model program that offered a rehabilitation opportunity to
non-violent offenders with addiction issues. In addition to being an Adjunct Professor for Tiffin University ’s International MBA Program and Aurora
University ’s Criminal Justice program, Judge Doyle also is a regular Speaker for Drug Rehabilitation Court conferences in the states and abroad.
